Dr. De Morris Walker is the Director of Summer Session Initiatives at Georgia Tech. Prior to joining Tech in January 2017, Dr. Walker worked in the Office of Summer Session at Clemson University, while earning his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. He brings nearly 10 years professional experience in higher education, including roles in student affairs and academic affairs at the University of California, Santa Barbara; California Polytechnical Institute, Pomona; and Morehouse School of Medicine, Inc.

Dr. Walker’s doctorate from Clemson University explored how a summer pre-college program fostered parent and family engagement among their program participants, who would be first-generation college students.  He has an M.B.A. from Claremont Graduate University and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He enjoys visiting family and friends in Southern California and Louisiana; spending time with his wife and two daughters; and being a “Dance Dad” with his daughters’ dance studio. 

Shelby Kuehl currently serves as the Interim Assistant Director for the iGniTe Virtual Program. Shelby received her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University and her B.A. from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. In addition to working with the Summer Sessions Office, and teaching a GT1000 track, Shelby also serves as the Assistant Director for Events in the Undergraduate Admission Office. In her free-time she enjoys getting out in the sunshine and hiking, as well as spending time with her husband and two dogs, Toby and Zeus.

Luke Simmons is a fourth-year Business Administration (BA) Major from Marietta, GA. He is pursuing an Operations and Supply Chain Concentration as well as a Business Analytics Certificate. Luke has been working for Summer Sessions since August 2021.

In addition to working in the Summer Sessions office, Luke is the President of GOALSoccer, involved with Greek Life and is also a GT1000 Team Leader..
