iGniTe and JumpStart Jackets Partner To Host Ethics Speaker

On Monday, July 12, the iGniTe Summer Launch Program in collaboration with the JumpStart Jackets program for new student athletes, hosted Rashmi Airan, a keynote speaker and consultant who specializes in the topic of ethics.

Her talk, entitled “Don’t Risk It, The Case for Ethical Vigilance”, shared lessons on doing the right thing, and taking responsibility for our actions.

A lawyer by training, Rashmi talked about her career and personal story that includes pleading guilty to a federal crime. Now, she focuses on helping others to learn from her story and practice ethical vigilance in their own lives.

At Georgia Tech acting ethically is one of our core values, along with collaboration. These two values are specifically highlighted in our 10 year strategic plan. In alignment with the strategic plan, the iGniTe and JumpStart Jackets programs wanted to provide summer first year students an opportunity to learn lessons from Rashmi’s story.

Rashmi encouraged students to consider ethical decision making in life, work, and academics. The talk was followed by an opportunity for students to ask questions, and connect individually with Rashmi.

The iGniTe Summer Launch Program this summer welcomed over 700 students, both on campus and virtually, to begin their Georgia Tech careers! The JumpStart Jackets program welcomed 30 student athletes. Both programs focus on equipping new students with the tools for success here at Georgia Tech, which include ethical decision making!
